LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo.—Midwest Croquet Association members decided to revamp the format of the 2019 Lee's Summit T-Bone Croquet Tournament during the Annual General Meeting on Saturday.
But the MCA needs your help, quickly.
The MCA is asking that members recruit a partner to participate in a Member-Guest-style doubles tournament. Consider this year's Lee's Summit T-Bone Croquet Tournament to be a "high-low" tournament in which a more-skilled player is paired with a less-skilled player. Or think of it like a Pro-Am tournament.
The goal is to kick off the croquet season alongside friends, significant others or relatives who don't often find themselves running three-ball breaks. We want others to experience the game and the MCA. The event will be fun, social, interactive and less competitive than MCA Nine Wicket Series events of the past.
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo.—Lee's Summit T-Bone Croquet Tournament event organizers are asking players to express whether they are interested in playing in this year's tournament, which would take place May 4 at a new location.
To better promote and support club play in the area, the Nine Wicket Series stats committee has been developing a Club-City points race to accompany the current singles points races. The concept is to award points to clubs based on how members place in 9WS tournaments. Because not every player is part of an official club, points for those players are rewarded to the city on their membership form.

LEE'S SUMMIT, MISSOURI -- With the challenging turf at Howard Park, the Lee's Summit T-Bone Tournament lines out to be the MCA's equivalent to cycling's Paris Roubaix. On Saturday, the cool temperatures and steady winds added to the atmosphere as 25 dedicated croquet players took to the courts across four divisions.
The Pro Division lived up to the epic conditions as Matt Griffith met Greg Clouse in the final. Griffith was looking for his sixth tournament win while Clouse continued his quest for his first title since the 2013 Stilwell Open. As the game developed, Griffith seemed to have the advantage, but Clouse carefully clawed his way back into the game and in the final minutes held a 20-16 lead off a break that ran out from the turn to 13PW.
